We still very much love each other, but we wholeheartedly agree that we make much better friends than we do spouses.* I'm a senior accountant for a regional insurance company based in Montgomery. I used to be a senior accountant at a large local CPA firm. Then I left to be the financial director of a small book publishing house. I took a pay cut to take it, but it was really a great job and made getting up in the morning slightly easier. After a couple of years of recharging my batteries, I was ready for a challenge again, which is what I have now. I'm working hard and staying busy, but everything is going great so far. * A fiercely loyal, dependable, trusting and giving friend. This has led to people taking advantage of me in the past, and will continue to do so in the future. That’s just something I have to deal with. I am trusting to the point of being gullible, and if I consider you a true friend, I will do anything in the world for you. * An ass at times. My worst character flaw, in my opinion, is that I take out my frustrations on the people who don’t deserve it, and who I love the most (primarily the true friends I mentioned above). I try my best to keep those episodes to a minimum. If I am an ass, say, 5 percent of the time, can you live with that? I hope so! * An alumnus of Auburn University and a devout Auburn Tiger. My favorite two places in the world are the football and baseball stadiums at Auburn. I have had a season football ticket for as long as I can remember and have cherished memories of going to games with my grandparents and my father. * A Christian. I have been a Christian since I was a kid. I got away from God for a while, and looking back, it was the worst period of my life. Things are far from perfect now, in fact I have some major issues and dilemmas facing me right now, but I know I can count on God to lead me through the tough times and be assured that everything will be all right in the end. I am not perfect, sinless, or a good role model, necessarily, but I do try to portray the right qualities whenever I can. I have a birth defect that caused the retina in my right eye to not fully form, leaving me legally blind in that eye. I consider myself lucky, because most people with my disorder have it in both eyes and have very limited sight. My disability (I hate calling it that) has only stopped me from doing two things in life – playing football and joining the military, which prevented me from having my all-time dream job, an F-16 pilot. The treatment for my eye that was performed in the early ’70s has proven to be the exact wrong thing to do, which has left me with a lazy eye that I am very self-conscious about. OK, that’s who I am. Now here are some of my favorite things. * Driving – I love to drive, and usually drive fast (sometimes exceeding the posted speed limits) * Cooking – I love to create things in the kitchen, putting things together for the first time on the hunch that they will blend together. It is turning a necessity into a piece of art, but also because it's like alchemically producing love through common household ingredients. * Music – This is one I do not indulge nearly enough. I was very musical earlier in life, playing in the band until basketball got in the way, and singing in the church choir (and just about anywhere else) for years. I got away from music when I went to college, and have never picked it back up. Now I am merely a listener, which has it’s merits too, but it’s not the same. * Learning – I have two degrees, but that’s not really the kind of learning I’m talking about. I love watching The Learning Channel, Discovery, Food TV, History Channel, etc., reading books and newspapers, surfing the web, and so forth. I get bored easily, so I love finding out new things, even if it’s about a subject that I previously had no interest in. So that’s a synopsis of me.
